The Urmston Group Practice

Clinics

Asthma clinic

Asthma patients may be referred to our asthma clinics for appropriate education, advice and supervision of treatment by the doctors. The clinic also provides individual management plans. Consultations are by appointment.

Diabetic clinic

All patients with diabetes are offered an appointment and are encouraged to attend to help maximise diabetic control and reduce the risk of any complications associated with diabetes.

Baby clinic

Your baby can be immunised at The Urmston Group Practice at our baby clinic held on a Friday afternoon. Six week checks are carried out on Tuesday afternoons.

Family planning

Advice is available from one of the practice nurses or any GP. Coils and Implants will be fitted by special appointment with Dr Freeman. You must have had a prior consultation with Dr Freeman first.

Pregnancy care

The practice has a dedicated midwife who attends on Monday and Tuesday 09:15 – 11:10 – patients are seen by appointment. The doctors provide post-natal care by appointment.

Minor surgery

Small operations and procedures are carried out within the practice by the doctors, consultation by appointment. The doctors will refer you to Dr Freeman’s or Dr Syed’s minor surgery clinic if required.

Travel clinic

For travel vaccinations please contact the practice nurses at least six weeks prior to departure. Yellow fever can be done 10 days prior to departure.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make a telephone appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements and help determine what vaccinations are required.

This initial appointment should be made least six weeks before you travel. A second appointment will be required at least two weeks before you travel for you to receive the vaccinations and allow time for the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
